Welcome to the website of the New Albany – Plain Township Historical Society. New Albany and the surrounding Plain Township are located in Franklin County, just northeast of Columbus, Ohio.
The NAPTHS was founded in 1975 to bring together people interested in local history and to help members of the community achieve an understanding of this history through the collection and preservation of artifacts, documents, and oral accounts. The NAPTHS is committed to preserving and documenting our local history for future generations, at a time when Plain Township is rapidly evolving from rural farming community to upscale suburb.
Some examples of the Society’s activities are participation in the annual Founders Day Celebration (started by the Historical Society in 1976 as part of the nation’s Bicentennial), school and club tours of the Ealy House Museum, helping with high school student community-service requirements and senior seminars, and the creation of a Heritage Quilt depicting 1800s-era Plain Township in folk art applique. We invite you to browse these pages, read our newsletter, come to our meetings and events, and get involved. There are many volunteer opportunities and we welcome your interest and participation!

Events, tours of the Ealy House Museum and other activities of the Society are made possible by the generous donations of our members and supporters in the community. The New Albany-Plain Township Historical Society wishes to extend sincere thanks to the City of New Albany for generous grants over numerous years. These funds have allowed us to offer community events, such as Living History: New Albany in the 1860s and D-Day, the 75th Anniversary, to make improvements at the Ealy House, and to offer educational tours and programs in partnership with the local New Albany schools. The Society is also grateful to the New Albany Community Foundation and The New Albany Company for their past support which made possible the acquisition and restoration of the Ealy House Museum.
This website and the Ealy House are supported by the City of New Albany and its generous citizens.
